In Ayurved, the word ‘keshya’ is suggestive of “keshaaya hitam yat tat”- It means that which is good for hair. So the goodness of hair can be understood by three perspectives like-
- Kesha sanjanana-that which helps in the origin of hair
- Kehsha vardhana-that which promotes hair growth or which makes hair dense and thick
- Kesha ranjana - that which gives dark black color to the hair.
For the purpose of kasha sanjanana i.e. origin of hair, there is a need of the substances which help to promote the asthi (bone tissue) and shukra dhatus (reproductive system/semen) as the hair is directly linked with these tissues. In this regard, the drugs which are Madhura(sweet), Lavana(salt) and Kashaya (astringent taste) are very essential. Likewise, to strengthen the Shukra Dhatu, Madhura(sweet) and Katu (pungent) rasa substances are indeed needed.
For the purpose of Kesha vardhana i.e. for hair growth promotion, medicaments rich in snigdha (unctuousness), guru(heaviness), manda(slowness), sheeta(cold) and sthira(stable) qualities are essential.
Along with these, Madhura(sweet), amla(sour) and slight kashaya(astringent) dominant substances contribute this benefit.
Kesha ranjana i.e. restoring natural hair colour, is possible by the substances which promote the Ranjaka Pitta and Bhrajaka pitta (pigmenting units derived from the Pitta -as per Ayurveda). Usually the herbal drugs (even mineral substances too) possessing unctuousness (snigdha guna), penetrative (teekshna), warm/hot (ushna), light (laghu ), motile (Sara) properties are beneficial in this respect. Also astringent (Kashaya) and bitter (tikta) herbal ingredients contribute this health benefit.
Kliston contains blend of such ingredients that fulfill all the three criteria essential for Keshya function. Amla and Methi possess Kesha Sanjanan property, Kesha vardhan property exhibited by Amla, bramhi, til oil, coconut oil, Nagarmotha and karpur; where as Jaswand, and Bhringaraj executes Kesha Ranjan property.
As per ayurveda, premature hair fall(Khalitya) occurs due to obstruction in the form of seal by vitiated Kapha and Rakta(mucous and blood) at the hair root, thus block further nourishment of hair follicles. Kliston hair oil has Laghu(light), Ruksha(dry) guna/properties; Rasa/taste- Tikta(bitter), Katu(tikta) and Kashay(astringent); Veerya/potency- Ushna(hot); Vipak/post-digestive taste- Katu(sore). By virtue of these properties, Kliston oil discloses the obstruction, expands channels and increases blood circulation at the site of hair follicle. Hence can effectively act against premature hair fall.
In addition to this, Kliston hair oil can be effective for premature greying of hair(Palitya) and dandruff too! As explained earlier, Ranjaka Pitta and Bhrajaka pitta (pigmenting units of pitta); help in kesh ranjana, i.e. to restore natural colour of hair, are favoured by herbal medicines having properties like unctuousness (snigdha guna), penetrative (teekshna), warm/hot (ushna), light (laghu ), motile (Sara). Kliston hair oil possesses the same properties thus helps to aid the proper functioning of these pittas, in turn helps to decrease greying and imparting blackness of hair. Also it sooths the scalp surface, relieves dandruff.
Kliston hair oil has unique blend of Sesame oil and Coconut oil which makes it a good source of Vit. E and MCFA(Median chain fatty acid). Thus it helps in nourishment and growth of hair, increases blood circulation, boost oxygen supply to the scalp, act as a skin moisturizer and softener.
