1.     Senna (Cassia Acutifolia)

It contains sennoside A, B, C and D, aloe emodin, anthro - diglucoside, kaempferin and isorhamnetin and water-soluble polysaccharides. Anthroquinoline glycosides namely sennoside A and B are laxatives. Senna increases intestinal motility associated with mild colics. Leaves of senna cause pappy stools. Senna stimulates intestinal peristalsis.

2.     Harda (Terminalia Chebula)

Harda contains tannins, which on hydrolysis give chebulinic acid and D - galloyl glucose. It also contains chebulinic acid, ellagic acid, and gallic acid, tannin terchebin and ellagitannin terchebulin synergic acid. Harda is cytoprotective, cardiotonic, and anti-mutaginic. Harda is a safe and effective purgative, astringent and alterative tonic that promotes health. As a laxative and alterative, it is useful in dyspepsia and constipation.

3.    Phudina (Mentha Sylvestris)

The volatile oil of phudina has principal components menthol and menthone. The volatile oil present in the drug is responsible for carminative and potent spasmolytic action, the latter due to smooth muscle relaxation. Extracts of the drug also exhibits anti-bacterial, diuretic, and mild sedative properties. Phudina is given with purgatives as a corrective and to prevent gripping.

5.     Jesthimadh (Glycyrrhiza Glabra)

6.     Ajwain (Carum Copticum)

It contains a volatile oil and is used as a asdjuvant to purgatives, diuretics and emmenogogues. Seeds of Ajwain possess stimulant, stomachic, carminative, tonic, antispasmodic, anthelmintic and antiseptic properties.
